Site Status

Over the course of the next few months, I shall be transfering the operation of the site over to someone else, yet to be named...

I have taken a full time job in York, so attending The Trunce is proving difficult. The race is still going ahead however, as Andy and I are managing to coordinate ourselves over the internet. I am currently rewriting the results software to enable someone else to use it, as it's a bit of a quirky beast at the moment...

More news as it arises...

Car Parking

In order for The Trunce to continue to be such a successful event, the organisers rely heavily upon the kind assistance of a number of individuals and organisations. By way of an example, it would be hard to imagine The Trunce if we didn't enjoy the continued support of both the landlord and staff at the Wagon & Horses...

One body who perhaps don't get the thanks they deserve however is the Oxspring Parish Council, who kindly allow us use of the football field to enable race participants to be able to park their cars nearby. We must be mindful however that we are not the only users of this facility, and that when the ground is particular sodden (as it was during Race 1 2006), our vehicles can cause considerable damage to the field.

It has therefore been decided that, on days where the ground is so wet as to create problems with parking on the football field, we should like to make every effort to park elsewhere. To this end, on wet days, we would like to suggest participants and spectators make use of the following parking facilities:

A map showing car parking information

The green area is the lower car park that many runners are already using. This facility will still be used on wet days.

The red area is the Wagon & Horses pub car park. We would prefer Trunce participants not to use this car park, so as to leave the facility available for patrons of The Wagon & Horses.

The blue area is the new children's playground car park off Roughbirchworth Lane

The yellow area represents possible on street parking.

We would also like to encourage runners to consider car sharing, in so far as is practical. Obviously, reducing the number of cars can only help to allieviate the problems...

Thanks

Our thanks once again to everyone - that's runners, spectators, the Trunce Organisers, the pub and the parish council - for all their efforts in support of this event.
